What it does

From unsorted library to person-based results

Traditional photo organizers sort by date, location or file name — none of which answer the question most people actually care about: "Show me every photo of this person." Face recognition changes the basis of organisation from metadata to the visual content itself.

SnapByFace uses face detection and recognition to scan your photo library, extract face embeddings, and compare them against reference photos you provide. The result is a person-centred view of your library — without uploading anything or relying on a cloud service.

How it works

Detect, recognise, organise

1

Add reference photos

One clear photo per person, named after them. The file name becomes the person's label in results. Sub-folders are scanned recursively.

2

Scan and detect faces

Point SnapByFace at your photo folders. It reads each image, detects faces, and stores 512-dimension embeddings locally — building a searchable face index.

3

Browse by person

Select any person to see every photo where they appear, ranked by similarity. Export the results to any folder for delivery or archiving.

What you get

A person-based view of your library

Face detection across formats

JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, WebP and HEIC/HEIF photos are all scanned for faces. No pre-sorting or format conversion needed.

One reference photo per person

No manual tagging sessions. Drop one clear photo per person into the People folder, and SnapByFace handles the rest.

Export by person

Select a person, review the matches, and export every photo where they appear — with original timestamps intact.

Local processing

Detection, recognition and organisation all happen on your own computer. No cloud service, no account, no upload.

Face recognition photo organizer: frequently asked questions

Can SnapByFace organize my photos by person?
SnapByFace detects faces in your photos and lets you find every photo of a specific person using one reference photo. You can then export the matches to any folder.
Do I need to manually tag each photo?
No. SnapByFace uses face recognition to match faces automatically. You provide one reference photo per person, and the app finds all matching faces in your library.
Does it work with large photo libraries?
Yes. SnapByFace is built for libraries of tens of thousands of images. Indexing is incremental, and scans can be paused and resumed.
Are my photos uploaded to a cloud service?
No. All face detection, recognition and matching happens locally on your computer. Your photos are never uploaded.
