SnapByFace is a desktop application. Face detection, face embeddings and search run on your computer. There is no cloud component that receives your photos, videos or face data — the app is built so that it cannot send them.
1. What stays on your computer
Everything you add to SnapByFace stays in a local folder in your user directory (~/.snapbyface/): the SQLite index, the extracted face embeddings, your settings, the activation state and log files. SnapByFace reads your media folders and never modifies, moves or renames your files.
We never receive photos, videos, face images, face embeddings, file paths, file names, folder structures, library sizes, or records of what you searched for.
2. Device statistics (machine code)
This is the only data SnapByFace sends to our server. Shortly after launch, the app may send one request containing: your machine code, app version, operating system, language, whether the license is activated, and which plan. We use it to count installations and to support your license. It is throttled to at most one request per machine per 24 hours — leaving SnapByFace open all day, or restarting it repeatedly, does not send more.
It does not contain any photo, video, face data, file path, folder name, library size or search activity — those fields are not part of the request, and the allow-list is enforced in code.
The request times out after 3 seconds, is never retried, and failures are silent: it never blocks startup and never shows an error dialog.
Turning it off: Settings → Device statistics. It is on by default, and switching it off sends one last request so we can delete the history for your machine code. We keep these records for 24 months, after which they are deleted.
3. Orders and payments
Buying a license happens in your browser on this website, handled by Waffo Pancake, the merchant of record. We receive your email address, order id, plan and — because the license is issued for one machine — the machine code you paste at checkout.
We do not receive card numbers; those go directly to Waffo Pancake and its payment processors. We never see your face data at any point in this process.
4. Third parties
Waffo Pancake — payments, tax and invoices.
Resend — delivering license emails (recipient address and the license code).
Cloudflare — hosting this site and running the worker that receives the statistics ping.
Each of them receives only what is needed for its own task.
5. Your choices
Turn device statistics off at any time in Settings — the app keeps working exactly the same.
Ask us to delete the statistics history for your machine code by emailing support@snapbyface.com with that machine code.
