Everything runs on your machine — including the search
SnapByFace is a desktop program, not a web service. Your photos and videos are handled on your own computer, so there is no server that could see them. The only outbound request is an optional device statistics ping you can switch off.

Tell it who to look for
One clear photo per person is enough — name the file after the person and the file name becomes their name. Sub-folders are scanned too. Swap a photo later and that person updates on its own.

Point it at what you already have
Add any number of photo and video folders, however deeply nested and badly named. Whatever can be read gets covered; what we cannot read is listed after the run instead of silently skipped.

You decide how strict a match is
Not every face is equally clear — a childhood snapshot is not a passport photo. The similarity threshold lets you trade missed faces against wrong ones, and changing it never re-analyses your media.
- Default 0.45, adjustable from 0.30 to 0.80
- Loosen it for old or low-quality photos, tighten it when a wrong match is costly
- Adjusting it re-checks what has already been found — your media is untouched

Check every hit before you trust it
The same findings in two views — by person, or by media file — each with a similarity you can weigh against the preview. Nothing is handed to you as a verdict.

Hours of work you can interrupt
Working through a real archive takes hours you may not want to spend in one sitting. Pause it, come back to it, or cancel — and adding files later does not redo what is finished.
